  • 5 Tips to Spot Online Shopping Scams

In today's digital age, online shopping has become a convenient way to shop for a wide array of products. However, with the rise of online shopping comes the increased risk of falling victim to defrauds and fraudulent websites. To help you navigate the world of online shopping safely, we have compiled five key tips to spot online shopping swindles and protect yourself from potential threats. Tip #1 Recognizing Fake Websites One of the first steps in spotting online shopping swindles is to be able to recognize fake websites. These websites often have poor design, spelling errors, and a lack of contact information. Before making a purchase, take a moment to review the website's URL. Look for inconsistencies or extra characters that could indicate a fake website trying to mimic a legitimate one. If something feels off, trust your instincts, and avoid providing any personal or financial information. Tip #2 Verifying Seller Credibility Another important tip is to verify the credibility of the seller before making a purchase. Look for reviews and ratings from other customers to gauge the seller's reputation. Additionally, check if the website provides clear contact information such as a physical address and phone number. Legitimate sellers are usually transparent about their business and are easily reachable for any inquiries or concerns. Tip # 3 Secure Payment Methods When shopping online, always opt for secure payment methods to safeguard your financial information. Payment methods like credit cards and reputable online payment services offer added layers of security and protection against fraudulent transactions. Be wary of sellers asking for unusual payment methods such as wire transfers or prepaid cards, as these are often associated with fraud. Tip # 4 Checking for Secure Connections Is your connection secure? Look for the padlock icon next to the website's URL, indicating that the website is using encryption to protect data transmission. Avoid entering personal details on websites that do not have this security feature in place, as your information may be vulnerable to interception by cybercriminals. Tip # 5 Avoiding Too-Good-To-Be-True Deals While online shopping offers the allure of great deals and discounts, be cautious of deals that seem too good to be true. Scammers often use incredibly low prices to lure in unsuspecting shoppers. If a deal appears significantly cheaper than other retailers, take a moment to research the website and seller to ensure legitimacy. By following these 5 Tips to Spot Online Shopping Scams, you can better protect yourself from falling victim to online shopping swindles and enjoy a safe and secure shopping experience. Remember to stay vigilant, trust your instincts, and always prioritize your online security.   Stay Connected: Blog:  Subscribe to our blog at http://whosetteatv.com/  for updates, tips, and flavorful content. • The Shopping Saga: Am I Really Saving? Are you? Let us find out!

Do you ever find yourself questioning whether the hustle of hopping from store to store saves you money? You are not alone, not alone! My shopping marathon kicks off at 8 am and goes well into the evening, covering seven essential stops. Sounds exhausting, right? After tracking my expenses month after month, I am yet to see significant savings. In fact, my gas expenses have soared too. I am on a quest for the perfect balance: high-quality organic foods that do not drain the wallet. Is it possible? In fact, are the products organic as labeled? We will have to go back to that in a later post. I am still digging into that! Between shrinkflation and the climbing costs, shopping has become a challenging puzzle, whether online or in-store. What about you? Have you noticed these changes impacting your budget? How do you manage to keep the balance between quality and cost? Let us unpack these questions together. See the below shopping saga that I embark on a weekly basis. After, reading the text you will be able to see why, I question whether or not you or I have saved any. Shopping Route Saga: Seven-Stops equal a Marathon First stop, Aldi. Known for its unbeatable prices, it is where I grab the basics—almond milk, certain veggies, fruits, and natural chicken. Next, Sam's Club. Bulk buying sounds like a great idea, but those hefty packages sometimes take up, more space than you, or I may have. However, Sams is great for the following items: Eggs (for baking), laundry detergent, garbage bags, nuts, seasonings-especially when not in gardening season, lotion, etc. Then there's Walmart, where I find myself tempted by the sheer variety. Here, you can find a plethora of items. Go to picks include bread (not used regularly). Frozen vegetables if fresh are not in season. Hygiene products, cleaning supplies, certain condiments if you are not buying them in bulk for the fear of them becoming expired before use. That would be a complete waste of money. My local grocery store is necessary for those specific items I cannot find anywhere. At this point I am just going there to support the local community. Because, at this point if I cannot find it in the store, I make my own. It is just part of my weekly routine. The farmer’s market is my favorite stop, bursting with fresh produce and local flavors. Shout out to Mitchell’s Mushrooms! Mitchell has a variety of fresh mushrooms and offers grow kits. Yes, I purchased one and it is going well! The vendors at the farmer’s market are not only friendly but provide knowledge on how to store your produce properly, most may have options of direct shipping, and more. When the market season ends, you will still have access if you get to know the vendors. Especially, if you have become a custom to eating fresh foods. Whole Foods is a splurge, but sometimes you just need that specialty item you cannot get anywhere else. Fresh bundles of red kale, they have a suitable selection of tea, and the name alone explains a visit. Lastly, Trader Joe's. Their unique products and affordable organic options are irresistible Are We Really Saving? Or will the shopping saga continue With all the running around from store to store, I often catch myself wondering: am I snagging bargains? Though I have not meticulously calculated the mileage yet, it is something that has been on my mind. Am I saving money, and more importantly, are you? To tackle this, all my receipts go straight into Fetch—an app you will adore if you have not already tried it. Fetch not only saves those easily faded receipts but also rewards me with points redeemable for virtual gift cards and more. Also, Fetch is a great space to locate Good Rx coupons for those of you who may be struggling with the rise of prescription cost. It simplifies tracking by breaking down expenses by store, making it easy to see monthly expenditures at the click of a finger. I am not a Fetch affiliate just sharing information about a good app. For instance, my shopping saga in January 2024, I spent a total of $120.25 at Aldi for fourteen items like blueberries, cheese, and chicken. I compared these prices to those at my local grocer to gauge the real savings. Post-holiday, my January expenses were surprisingly low. I made it to only three of my usual seven stops, and my gas costs were just a whopping $45.00 for the month. How about you? Do you use any apps or methods to keep track of your shopping savings? Share your experiences or tips in the comments below. Let us discover together whether all this hustle really pays off in savings or if it is just a myth . The Bargain Shopping Saga: Worth the Effort or not? Why do we trek to multiple stores in pursuit of cost savings? The Shopping Saga: Am I Really Saving? Are you? Is it the thrill of the hunt, the joy of snagging the perfect deal, or unmatched quality—like the succulent strawberries from the farmers market that outshine those from big chains? It is the vibrant social interactions we encounter while out in the community. For me, it is all these reasons. Despite the allure, the reality is that my mileage and gas costs are climbing. Always on the lookout to trim a few pennies off my grocery bill, I sometimes wonder how different this bargain hunt would be if my kids were still young and at home. Managing such outings with children in tow adds another layer of complexity. You are certainly not alone if you find yourself oscillating between frustration and satisfaction in your quest for bargains. How about you? Do you find the effort of visiting multiple stores worthwhile, or are the costs starting to outweigh the benefits? How do you manage your shopping expeditions, especially those of you with younger families? Let us share experiences and tips in the comments below. Together, we can redefine what it means to truly save. Reflections from the Road As I reflect on my countless shopping sagas, to find out if I am really saving. I have come to realize it is not solely about the money saved. It is about the experience, the variety, and yes, the sheer fun of it all. But these reflections also bring me to a serious question: Is it time for a reevaluation? I am considering a deeper analysis of the costs involved—tallying up the mileage and gas to see what we are truly spending. I will be sharing my findings in a future post, and I encourage you to do the same. Could this provide us with a clearer picture of our actual savings? So, fellow shoppers, what is your take? In the mist of all the shopping saga have you or I actually saved? Is the multi-stop shopping strategy enriching your life or just complicating it? Is it time to streamline and save not just money, but time and a bit of sanity? Share your thoughts and let us explore together whether our shopping marathons are truly bargain hunts or just a wild goose chase! The picture below is my daughter and I from a long shopping marathon, just for groceries. Yes, this is real and our reality. My apologies for not being able to find the picture of the trunk filled from top to bottom.   Stay Connected: Blog:  Subscribe to our blog at http://whosetteatv.com/  for updates, tips, and flavorful content. • Battling Autoimmune Diseases: Autoimmune diseases, steroid treatment, weight gain

Introduction Autoimmune diseases are conditions where the immune system, which typically defends the body against harmful pathogens, mistakenly attacks the body's own tissues. These diseases encompass a wide array of disorders, such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and multiple sclerosis. To manage the symptoms and progression of these diseases, steroids (corticosteroids) are often prescribed. While effective in reducing inflammation and suppressing the immune response, steroid use can lead to significant side effects, one of the most concerning being weight gain. In this comprehensive discussion, we will explore autoimmune diseases, the role of steroids in their treatment, and how steroids contribute to weight gain. We will also look at strategies for managing this side effect, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and addressing the physical and emotional challenges that come with it. Personal Journey: A Struggle with Weight and Autoimmune Disease I have struggled with my weight for several years. This was not due to overeating. An autoimmune disorder interrupted my life in my early twenties. Not so surprising that multiple family members have dealt with the issues as well. I started steroids early on, like Prednisone, and tried Plaquenil, which caused visual disturbances. Now, depending on the milligram, this medication can cause bloating, whether you are inflamed already is a whole other issue. Over the years, I have stockpiled my wardrobe with sizes 4-14. Yes, that is a huge jump. Can you imagine having clothes for each of the seasons in all those assorted sizes? But this is my life, or is it? After different life-changing events, my husband and I decided we were going to change our lifestyles. This was a hard decision to make when you are accustomed to eating not-so-traditional on-time meals. This meant no more eating at night and so forth. Autoimmune Diseases: An Overview Autoimmune diseases occur when the immune system loses the ability to differentiate between foreign invaders and the body's own cells. This malfunction can lead to various symptoms depending on the organs and tissues affected. Common autoimmune diseases include: Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA):  A condition where the immune system attacks the joints, causing inflammation, pain, and eventually joint damage. Lupus (Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, SLE):  A disease that can affect multiple organs, including the skin, joints, kidneys, and brain, leading to widespread inflammation and tissue damage. Multiple Sclerosis (MS):  An autoimmune disorder where the immune system targets the protective covering of nerve fibers in the central nervous system, causing neurological symptoms and disability. Without the exact cause of autoimmune diseases being known, one can only speculate the causes. Systemic Scleroderma: A Closer Look Systemic scleroderma, also known as systemic sclerosis, is a rare autoimmune disease characterized by hardening and tightening of the skin and connective tissues. It can affect the skin, blood vessels, internal organs, and the digestive system. Symptoms vary widely but often include Raynaud's phenomenon (a condition where fingers and toes turn white or blue in response to cold or stress), skin thickening, and organ dysfunction. The exact cause of systemic scleroderma remains unknown, but it involves an overproduction of collagen. Treatment focuses on managing symptoms and preventing complications. Steroids in the Treatment of Autoimmune Diseases Corticosteroids, commonly referred to as steroids, are synthetic drugs that closely resemble cortisol, a hormone produced by the adrenal glands. They are potent anti-inflammatory agents and immune suppressants, making them highly effective in managing autoimmune diseases. Steroids are used to: Reduce Inflammation: They help decrease swelling, redness, and pain in affected tissues. Suppress the Immune System:  By dampening the immune response, steroids prevent the immune system from attacking the body's own tissues. Commonly prescribed steroids include prednisone, methylprednisolone, and dexamethasone. While these medications are invaluable in controlling autoimmune disease symptoms, they come with a range of potential side effects, including increased appetite and weight gain. Mechanisms of Steroid-Induced Weight Gain Weight gain associated with steroid use, attributed to distinct factors: Increased Appetite: Steroids can stimulate the appetite, leading to increased calorie intake. Patients often report a heightened sense of hunger and difficulty feeling full. Fluid Retention: Steroids can cause the body to retain sodium and water, leading to bloating and weight gain. This is often referred to as "water weight." Altered Metabolism: Steroids can change how the body stores fat, particularly promoting fat deposition in the abdomen, face, and neck. This pattern of weight gain is often called "Cushingoid" appearance, resembling Cushing's syndrome. Reduced Physical Activity:  The underlying autoimmune disease, along with the fatigue and joint pain associated with it, can reduce physical activity levels, contributing to weight gain. Managing Steroid-Related Weight Gain While weight gain from steroid use can be challenging, there are strategies to manage it effectively: Dietary Modifications: Eat organic food when possible and limit meat intake. Monitor portion sizes and avoid high-calorie, low-nutrient foods. Stay hydrated and limit salt intake to reduce fluid retention. Regular Exercise: Engage in regular physical activity tailored to your ability and energy levels. Low-impact exercises like walking, swimming, or yoga can be beneficial. Strength training can help maintain muscle mass, which can be lost due to steroid use and inactivity. Medication Management: Work with your healthcare provider to find the lowest effective dose of steroids. Explore alternative medications or treatments that might reduce the need for steroids. Emotional Support: Weight gain can be distressing and impact self-esteem. Seeking support from friends, family, or a therapist can be helpful. Joining support groups for individuals with autoimmune diseases can provide a sense of community and shared experiences. Comparison Table: Effects of Steroid Use Impact Area Before Steroid Use After Steroid Use Appetite Normal Increased Metabolism Normal Slowed Water/Salt Retention Normal High Fat Distribution Even Centralized  (Abdomen, Face, Neck) Living with Autoimmune Disease and Steroid Use Navigating life with an autoimmune disease and the side effects of steroid treatment requires a comprehensive approach. It is not just about managing the physical symptoms but also addressing the emotional and psychological impact. Understanding Your Condition: Educate yourself about your specific autoimmune disease. Knowledge empowers you to make informed decisions about your treatment and lifestyle. Stay informed about new research and treatment options. Advances in medicine are continually made, offering hope for better management strategies. Building a Support Network: Surround yourself with supportive individuals who understand your journey. This can include family, friends, healthcare providers, and support groups. Communicate openly with your healthcare team. Regular check-ins and honest conversations about your symptoms and side effects are crucial. Focusing on Mental Health: Autoimmune diseases and their treatments can take a toll on mental health. Stress, anxiety, and depression are common and should not be ignored. Practice mindfulness, meditation, or other relaxation techniques to manage stress. These practices can improve overall health and help in coping with chronic illness. Adapting Your Lifestyle: Adjust your daily routine to accommodate your energy levels and physical capabilities. Pacing yourself can prevent burnout and exacerbation of symptoms. Prioritize activities that bring you joy and fulfillment. • The Power of Nutrition: Fueling Your Body Right

The Power of Nutrition: Fueling Your Body Right Health is a multifaceted concept influenced by multiple factors. Achieving optimal health involves a balance of physical, mental, and emotional elements. Let us get into the importance of nutrition and how it impacts our overall well-being on so many distinct levels that we often overlook them. When I am discussing the importance of health and wellness with family or friends, this question comes up often, Who Benefits from Good Nutrition?   Well, the answer should not be surprising . Everyone, regardless of age or gender, benefits from good nutrition, though specific needs may vary. Children and teenagers require balanced diets for growth and development. Proper nutrition supports cognitive function and academic performance and helps prevent childhood obesity. Adults need nutrition to maintain health and prevent chronic diseases. Balanced diets can improve energy levels, enhance mood, and support daily functioning.   The elderly require nutrient-dense foods to support aging bodies. Adequate nutrition can help maintain muscle mass, bone density, and cognitive function. Next, there are always skeptical people who want to know,   what is Good Nutrition?   Good nutrition involves consuming a balanced diet rich in essential nutrients like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins. Fruits and vegetables provide vitamins, minerals, and fiber. Aim for a variety of colors to ensure a range of nutrients. Whole grains include brown rice, quinoa, oats, and whole wheat products. They offer fiber, B vitamins, and energy.   Lean proteins, such as chicken, fish, beans, and legumes. Proteins are vital for muscle repair and immune function.   Healthy fats, found in avocados, nuts, seeds, and olive oil. Essential for brain health and hormone production. Now one may ask, Where to Get Good Nutrition?   Good nutrition is not hard to find. Start with daily meals and snacks, whether prepared at home or eaten out, should be mindful of nutritional quality.   At home, greater control over ingredients and portion sizes. Home-cooked meals often use fresher, less processed ingredients. Dining out requires careful menu choices, opt for grilled over fried, request dressings on the side, and watch portion sizes.   In Schools and workplaces advocating for healthier options in cafeterias and vending machines can support better nutrition in communal settings. I get it, we all have busy schedules and often wonder,   When to Eat? One should try the following: c onsistent healthy eating habits, which should be maintained throughout one’s life. Regular meals provide sustained energy and prevent nutrient deficiencies. Breakfast is crucial for jump-starting metabolism. Snacks, healthy snacks like nuts, fruits, and yogurt can help maintain energy levels and prevent overeating at meals. Meal timing , e ating smaller, frequent meals can help maintain blood sugar levels and prevent hunger. Trust me, I am not a robot. Also, I am still working daily to figure out,   How to Improve Nutrition? Here is what I found so far;   remember to   choose whole, unprocessed foods over processed options. Whole foods   like fresh produce, whole grains, nuts, seeds, and lean meats are loaded with nutrients and free from added sugars, unhealthy fats, and preservatives. Meal prep, planning and preparing meals ahead of time can ensure you have healthy options available, even on busy days. Reading labels, this huge, it helps you avoid hidden sugars, unhealthy fats, and high sodium levels in processed foods. Now, for those who may still be skeptical on,   Why Nutrition Matters? I have given a brief outline for one to absorb the impotence of why their nutrition matters.   Nutrition  p rovides essential nutrients for bodily functions, immune support, and energy production. Vitamins like C and E, and minerals like zinc, support a healthy immune system. Cell repair, proteins and antioxidants help repair tissues and reduce inflammation. Energy production, carbohydrates provide quick energy, while fats offer long-lasting fuel. The Impact of Processed Foods, processed foods often contain elevated levels of added sugars, unhealthy fats, and sodium, contributing to obesity, hypertension, and type 2 diabetes.   Sugary snacks can lead to energy spikes and crashes, affecting mood and productivity. Fast food, high in unhealthy fats and sodium, which can increase blood pressure and cholesterol levels. Pre-packaged meals often lack essential nutrients, leading to deficiencies and poor health outcomes over time. All the above reviewed information ties into the following, diseases impacted by nutrition. Cardiovascular Disease, a diet high in fruits, vegetables, and lean proteins reduces the risk. Omega-3 Fatty Acids, found in fish and flaxseeds, are particularly beneficial for heart health. Diabetes, managing carbohydrate intake helps control blood sugar levels. Complex Carbohydrates, such as whole grains, vegetables, and legumes, prevent spikes in blood glucose. Certain Cancers, diets high in antioxidants lower the risk of cancers. Antioxidant-rich Foods, include berries, leafy greens, and nuts, which neutralize harmful free radicals in the body. Finally, Practical Tips for Better Nutrition. Plan your meals: Create a weekly meal plan to ensure balanced, nutritious meals.   Stay Hydrated, drink plenty of (H2O) water throughout the day to support digestion and overall health. (“A Beginner's Guide to Naturopathy: What You Need to Know”) Moderation and balance, enjoy treats occasionally but focus on maintaining a balanced diet. • Alopecia and Seborrheic Dermatitis: My Personal Journey and Natural Remedies

Understanding Alopecia and Seborrheic Dermatitis: My Personal Journey and Natural Remedies Alopecia and seborrheic dermatitis are two common scalp conditions that affect millions of people worldwide. I am one of those people. Alopecia leads to hair loss and that seborrheic dermatitis results in itchy, flaky skin. I can attest to the fact that both conditions can be distressing, but nature provides a plethora of remedies that can help soothe the scalp and promote healthier hair growth. My favorite remedies consist of items stored in my kitchen. I use the ingredients daily for my hair and scalp treatment. In this blog post, we will discuss the above conditions, their root causes, and natural treatments, including a rejuvenating hair tea recipe that I use daily to nourish my scalp and hair. I have added a picture for you to view. This picture still makes me cringe when I view it. My crown was in distress, and I felt hopeless! I have researched all the information below front to back with hopes of finding a resolution to my hair loss. Hopefully, this text will help someone on their journey back to their hair happy place. Let us explore what alopecia is. Alopecia is an autoimmune condition. This happens to be where the immune system attacks hair follicles. Oh, yes, you read that correctly. Once this happens, that is what in fact causes the hair loss. Now, to my surprise, there are distinct types of alopecia. Caused by a multitude of factors that I have outlined below for your review. Alopecia causes are not often explained at great length. Hence, why I felt compelled to explain to you the reader. First, genetics, yes, your ancestors and mine passed this along to us. What do I mean by genetics? Genetics is a family history. No one in my family has confessed to having the alopecia trait. However, it is affecting a majority the females in my family. What I found to be interesting is the genetic predisposition plays a significant role, especially in androgenetic alopecia which is the root cause of male and female pattern baldness. Second, autoimmune disorders, such as thyroid disease, vitiligo, and lupus are often associated with alopecia. This happens in the condition known as alopecia areata. This goes back to the above text where I state your immune system is attacking your hair follicle. I still have time wrapping my head around the fact that my immune system who is supposed to fight intruders attacks itself daily. Yes, medications may help with this issue. However, if you do not want to be on medications for life, then you like me are going to constantly be looking for alternate routes to change the factors and balance your body. Or should I stabilize your body so that no more hair falls will occur. Third, is the good all hormonal changes. Is it called a hormonal imbalance? It has been stated in the past, by those before us, and more than likely it will be stated by those after us that the biggest hormonal change that women face is MENOPAUSE. Before, you even think to ask, yes, menopause you an increased level of androgens when our bodies are losing estrogen. This can be a major contributor to our hair loss. Therefore, this androgenetic alopecia that one could be experiencing is the reason for thinning which was clear in the above photo. Coming in hot and heavy at number four is stress also know to some as worry (worrying). That physical or emotional stress can be a huge trigger for one to lose their hair. They call this Telogen Effluvium, which is a form of alopecia caused by stress, which is where your hair follicles enter the resting phase prematurely, leading to shedding. Now, listen up, get rid of any stressors ASAP! If you want your coils, locks, curls, etc. to stay intact. Of course, the fifth element to alopecia, hair loss, balding, whatever you want to call your experience is more than likely due to a nutritional deficiency. You may have guessed by now, that the lack of essential nutrients such as iron, zinc, vitamins (especially vitamin D and B vitamins), and protein can lead to hair loss. But the question is what you are going to do to find out what the key is. We will keep moving with the text. Later, I am going to discuss when to see a professional. They may order blood work to see if you are in fact deficient with any of the above vitamins. You do not want to start taking a supplement when one is not warranted to use. Infections and illnesses can also be a source of hair loss. Fungal infections like ringworm, bacterial infections, and more can be a reason for hair loss. Additionally, severe illnesses or surgeries can trigger temporary hair loss. It is of the utmost importance to wash your hair regularly. Also, no sharing of towels and other things used for hygiene. Certain medications, including those for cancer, arthritis, depression, heart problems, and high blood pressure, can lead to hair loss as a side effect. If you experience any hair fall once you start any medications whether prescribed or over the counter, I recommend stopping the medication or supplement and consulting a medical professional. Save  yourself time and money by reading this post. It would make someone cringe if I decided to disclose my monthly expenditures on hair care. Even though, as stated previously, I make lots of hair products myself. However, the ingredients still cost money. Of course, environmental factors can cause issues for your hair health. My least favorite thing is for a bus or a huge truck to guy bye as I am walking down the street. That huge cloud of black smoke that billows through the air. Ugh, all that pollution sticks in your hair! Daily exposure to air pollutants. This can be the case from harsh hair treatments, and chemicals at the salon. Or the fact that professional products are being sold increasingly at the local beauty supply. All of this can damage hair follicles and contribute to hair loss. If you are not familiar with the following terms take time to research the types of alopecia. I will give a brief description and cause for each. Just so you have an idea. But please do yourself a solid and arm yourself with knowledge about alopecia. This gives you the opportunity to help someone or yourself.     1.      Alopecia Areata patchy hair loss on the scalp Cause: Autoimmune   2.      Androgenetic Alopecia male or female pattern baldness. Cause: Genetic 3.      Alopecia Totalis Involves complete loss of hair on the scalp autoimmune in nature. 4.      Telogen Effluvium: Temporary hair loss. Cause: Physical or emotional stress 5.      Traction Alopecia often due to tight hairstyles. Cause: Physical stress on hair follicles. Before, we move on to the next condition. Let me tell you that I love braids. I have had them small, large, and in between. However, Synthetic hair aka weave is a known contributing factor for hair loss aka alopecia in the African American community. It can be an allergic reaction to synthetic hair or the tightness of a style. But I have tried swearing it off and have yet to be successful. I love versatility and being able to not have to use a heating instrument daily to achieve the style that I am looking for. But whether a wig or weave it has been severely damaging to my natural hair. Anyhow, these are totally things to consider. Now, let us visit what Seborrheic Dermatitis is. Along with finding out the causes and symptoms. Per, my recollection of how my dermatologist explained, Seborrheic dermatitis is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that affects areas rich in sebaceous glands. For the sake of staying on topic this affects the scalp. Seborrheic Dermatitis is characterized by the following red inflamed scalp, greasy scales, itchy and flaky patches. Yes, it is not fun. Now, my dermatologist prescribed me Clobetasol Solution. Now, the problem with that is it smells like rubbing alcohol. The problem with that is it dried my scalp out even more. The exact cause of seborrheic dermatitis is unknown. But of course, stress and weather changes can exacerbate the condition. You may be asking by now, Myss T, when should I see a dermatologist versus self-treatment for alopecia or seborrheic dermatitis is crucial for effective management. Here are guidelines to help you decide when to see a dermatologist or medical professional such as your Primary Care Doctor. First, if you experience sudden and rapid hair loss that cannot be explained it is safe to say you should be scheduling an appointment. Often, you could have an underlying condition that needs valuated by a medical professional. Second, you are experiencing severe symptoms such as an intense itch or inflammation of the scalp, large patches of unexplained hair loss. It would be more than appropriate to schedule an appointment. Third, you have been treating yourself for a while now. However, you have not noticed any meaningful change and in fact the symptoms are worse. Yes, you know what time it is, time to see the doctor. By self-treatment, all remedies and over the counter supplements/treatments have not given you relief and the issue has been persistent can be the sign of another issue. It is imperative to get diagnosis confirmation. To be honest you cannot begin to treat yourself prior to an appointment with a medical professional, that you have an issue with some form of hair loss. If you suspect you have a condition like alopecia areata or seborrheic dermatitis but are not sure you should schedule an appointment with a dermatologist. They can order blood work or do a biopsy to see exactly what is causing your issue. You start to notice smooth shiny areas with no hair follicles as I did shortly after giving birth to my oldest child. This is a definite reason to be treated promptly. This type of scaring alopecia can lead to permanent damage. Now, there are several associated symptoms that most would not consider when it comes to hair loss. Fatigue, joint pain, or changes in skin texture, a dermatologist can help identify any related autoimmune or systemic conditions. Such as multiple sclerosis, Lupus, and other common auto immune disorders. Self-Treatment may be appropriate if your symptoms are mild and manageable, in the first stages, if you know the triggers like hair products or diet. Now, for one of my favorite topics of discussion. Preventative Care, like a good herbal tea recipe. A good hair routine for washing a good air dry for your hair instead of heat. Now, let us get into the tips for effective self-treatment. Consistency of natural remedies often take time to show results, so consistent use is key. Patch test, before applying any new treatment, especially essential oils, do a patch test to ensure you do not have an allergic reaction. You do not want to find out the hard way by itching, crying, and being uncomfortable. By eating a balanced diet, you will ensure you are getting essential nutrients that support hair health, such as iron, zinc, vitamins, and protein. The essential nutrients required to help stimulate hair follicles, which are in everyday foods we consume daily, without taking any over the counter medication or supplements. This will be a clever way to stay consistent and on course. This was a huge factor for me on my hair journey. Learning how to manage my stress. Stress Management is an important practice. Completing, stress-reducing activities like yoga, meditation, or regular exercise can help you manage conditions triggered by stress. Small deep dive into what natural remedies there are for alopecia and seborrheic dermatitis. While there are medical treatments available for both conditions, natural remedies can provide significant relief and promote overall scalp health. Here are different things I tried, that are natural treatments that I found to be effective for short periods of time. They may work better for you. 1.      Aloe vera has anti-inflammatory properties that can soothe the scalp and reduce irritation, however, if you have a latex allergy you may want to avoid usage of this product. Aloe vera has a thin yellow coating once cut open. That thin yellow coating contains latex. However, for those with no allergy to latex, allow vera, will help in moisturizing and conditioning the hair, making it an excellent remedy for both alopecia and seborrheic dermatitis. 2.      Tea tree oil is known for its antifungal and antibacterial properties and its distinct smell. I will not be untruthful; the smell is not pleasant. This product is best if used at night when you do not have to be around to many people. It can help control the overgrowth of yeast on the scalp, reducing the symptoms of seborrheic dermatitis. Its ability to unclog hair follicles and nourish roots makes it beneficial for those suffering from alopecia as well. 3.      Coconut oil is rich in fatty acids that can penetrate the hair shaft and provide deep conditioning. It also has antimicrobial properties that can help fight scalp infections, making it a great option for managing seborrheic dermatitis.   DIY Herbal Hair Tea Recipe that I use daily as a hair stimulant. One of the most effective ways to nourish your scalp and hair is through an herbal hair tea rinse. (I leave this in my hair) one may like it as rinse. This recipe combines potent herbs known for their scalp-soothing and hair-strengthening properties and I must admit that I also steep a cup and enjoy it orally. Ingredients: One tablespoon horsetail One tablespoon peppermint leaves One tablespoon fennel seed One tablespoon dandelion root One tablespoon stinging nettle leaves One tablespoon fenugreek seed One tablespoon rosemary leaves A few drops of spearmint essential oil Instructions: 1.     Boil Water: Bring 2 cups of water to a boil or more if you like to prepare a large quantity. 2.     Add Herbs: Place all the herbs in a heatproof bowl and pour the boiling water over them. 3.     Steep: Cover and let the mixture steep for 30-45 minutes. 4.     Strain: Strain the tea to remove the herbs. 5.     Add Essential Oil: Once the tea has cooled, add a few drops of spearmint essential oil. 6.     Store: Pour the tea into a glass spray bottle and store it in the refrigerator. Usage for herbal tea rinse: Daily Mist: Spray the herbal tea onto your scalp and hair daily. This can help soothe inflammation, reduce itchiness, and promote hair growth. Wash Day Rinse: Use the tea as a final Health and Wellness Topic of the Day: Understanding Alopecia and Seborrheic Dermatitis: My Personal Journey and Natural Remedies Providing valuable insights, tips, and actionable advice to inspire and educate you. • Sleep Quality Improved With ASMR: ASMR strategies for healthy sleep

Do you know about the Importance of Sleep? Getting quality sleep is essential if you get a little unfriendly due to lack of sleep. I will not speak for anyone but myself right now! I am truly moody if I do not at least get a full uninterrupted eight hours of sleep. When a person relaxes, they find energy to restore, muscle tissues repaired, and consolidates memories. Most adults need 7-9 hours of sleep per night, but people still struggle to achieve this due to stress, poor sleep habits, or underlying health conditions. It is amazing that we have all this knowledge at our fingertips and yet not enough of us utilize the internet as a useful tool. I am just now hearing about ASMR. Or should I say the meaning of ASMR, and I found the information to be so intriguing, I instantly thought this content is a definite share. How ASMR Can Help Improve Sleep? Sounds unbelievable but Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response better known as (ASMR), definition is a tingling sensation often experienced in the scalp and neck in response to specific auditory (hearing) or visual (seeing) stimuli, such as whispering, tapping, or soft-spoken instructions. Are you following me here? Do you remember someone who liked scraping their fingernails on a chalk board? Were you creep out? Was that person excited and smiling ear to ear? ASMR videos have become a popular tool for those seeking relaxation and better sleep quality.   ASMR strategies for healthy sleep. Reduction in Anxiety , yes this is a huge! This is a known common barrier to sleep, that can cause racing thoughts and an increased heart rate. ASMR can significantly reduce anxiety levels by engaging the brain with calming stimuli. The gentle, repetitive sounds and soft visuals trigger a soothing response in the brain, helping to lower cortisol levels (the stress hormone). Promotes Relaxation  ASMR content creates a relaxing atmosphere. Whether it is the sound of gentle tapping, the soft rustling of paper, or the soothing tone of a whisper, these triggers can create a sense of peace and calm throughout your body. This state of relaxation is ideal for winding down before bed, helping to transition the body and mind from a state of alertness to one of restfulness. This can be particularly beneficial for those of us who struggle to unwind after a hectic day. Distracts the Mind , people struggle with sleep because they cannot stop thinking about their worries or to-do lists. ASMR content serves as a distraction, focusing the mind on the pleasant sensations and sounds rather than the stressors of life. This diversion can be incredibly effective in breaking the cycle of overthinking which I struggle with daily, allowing the mind to relax and prepare for sleep. By providing a gentle focus, ASMR helps in shifting attention away from anxiety-inducing thoughts. Now that we know what ASMR is for, lets discuss how to Find Calm: Rain Videos and ASMR You are not alone in your struggle for better sleep. Research shows that oodles of people turn to calming rain videos or ASMR content available on their favorite social media sites. Platforms like YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok have a plethora of relaxing videos designed to help you unwind and prepare for sleep. The soothing sounds of natural rain or ASMR triggers can create a peaceful environment, helping you drift off more easily to a sound sleep. Let us get into why Diet plays a part in Changes for Better Sleep Your diet can significantly impact your sleep quality. Here are various dietary tips to consider: Avoid Eating Before Bed,  try not to eat large meals or snacks at least 2-3 hours before bedtime, I know it will be rough, hang in there! Digestion can interfere with your ability to fall asleep. No heading through a fast-food restaurant window late at night. This can lead to indigestion and make it hard to fall asleep. Additionally, a full stomach can increase the likelihood of experiencing acid reflux, which can disrupt sleep. Skip Spicy Food , if you suffer from GERD or acid reflux, avoid spicy foods, especially in the evening. This can exacerbate symptoms and disrupt your sleep. Spicy foods can trigger heartburn and indigestion, which can make lying down uncomfortable and hinder your ability to fall asleep or stay asleep. Limit Caffeine and Alcohol , both substances can interfere with sleep patterns, which will not help the body relax and restore organically. Try to avoid caffeine in the afternoon and limit alcohol consumption in the evening. Caffeine is a stimulant that can stay in your system for few hours, making it harder to fall asleep. While alcohol might make you feel sleepy initially, it can disrupt your sleep cycle and prevent you from reaching the deep, restorative stages of sleep. When to Seek Professional Help While lifestyle changes and ASMR can significantly improve sleep quality for tons, certain people may require professional help. If you experience chronic insomnia, frequent nightmares, or other serious sleep disturbances, consider consulting a healthcare professional. They can help identify any underlying conditions and develop a tailored treatment plan to your specific wishes. Stay Tuned for More Healthy Tips Improving sleep quality is just one step towards better health. I use ASMR nightly. I listen to the sound of natural rain to help everything relax. This has made for a sounder sleep. Prior I would toss and turn and get out of bed, numerous times during the night. It is a clever idea to keep track of your sleeping patterns. Please feel free to send me a note and let me know what you think about ASMR and what benefits you may get from these tips. Health and Wellness Topic of the Day: Sleep Quality Improved With ASMR? How to Whip Up Comforting, Hearty Meals Without the Weekend Wait! Quick dinners using instant pot. 🌟🍲 Hey there, fellow food lovers! I am Myss T, quickly visiting to help with the discovery of traditional meals made in not so traditional ways. Ever find yourself craving a hearty, comforting Sunday dinner but it is only Wednesday? I have been there! As someone who loves whipping up delicious meals but often finding myself short on time during the week, I have mastered the art of transforming Sunday favorites into easy weeknight dinners. Ready to bring a little weekend magic to your weekday meals? See my personal tips and tricks below! Oh, the potential of Bringing Sunday Dinner Comfort to Weeknights! First things first: let us get excited about the possibilities! Imagine coming home after a long day and being able to enjoy a meal that feels like a warm hug in no time. Sunday dinners are all about comfort and satisfaction, and with smart shortcuts, you can enjoy those same vibes any night of the week. The key? Planning and using your kitchen gadgets to their fullest potential. Especially, the appliances that are easy to clean. My favorite is Instant Pot. If you do not have one, I highly recommend the product. See below, how I use my Instant Pot One of my favorite tools for quick, delicious dinners is the Instant Pot. This device can turn hours-long cooking into a matter of minutes, it is magical. An Instant Pot is a multi-functional pressure cooker that can sauté, slow cook, steam, and even make yogurt! Also, an additional plus is that this appliance also cooks rice. Now, you no longer must utilize your storage space for a multitude of appliances. The Instant Pot has you covered! It comes in assorted sizes to suit different family needs, ranging from three quarts for small households to eight quarts for larger families. Take stuffed peppers, for example. Normally, these can take a while to prepare and bake, but with the Instant Pot, they are ready in a fraction of the time! Instant Pot Stuffed Peppers with Ground Chicken (delicious) Ingredients: Four bell peppers (any color) 1 lb. ground chicken One cup cooked rice (Quinoa) One can diced tomatoes (with juices) One small onion finely chopped. Two cloves’ garlic, minced. 1 tsp Italian seasoning 1 tsp Mrs. Dash (garlic and herb) Salt and pepper to taste (optional) One cup shredded mozzarella cheese One cup of shredded Asiago Cheese One cup shredded parmesan cheese One cup chicken broth (Tomato sauce is optional. I do not use any in my recipe.) Instructions: Prepare the Peppers: Remove the tops of the peppers. Make sure all seeds have been removed. Wash and dry your peppers for the best taste. Save the seeds for your garden. Yes, this is a fact! Make the Filling: In a large bowl, combine ground chicken, cooked rice, diced tomatoes, onion, garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, Mrs. Dash garlic herb, and pepper. Mix well. Stuff the Peppers: Now, it is easier to use a small scoop to fill the peppers. Do not overstuff, as the filling will expand as it cooks. Cook in the Instant Pot:  Pour chicken broth into the Instant Pot. Place the trivet inside and arrange the stuffed peppers on the trivet. Close the lid, set to sealing, and cook on high pressure for 10 minutes. Quick Release (use caution):  Once done, perform a quick release. Open the lid and sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top of each pepper. Close the lid for another minute to melt the cheese. Serve and Enjoy: Carefully remove the peppers from the Instant Pot. Serve hot and enjoy your quick and delicious Sunday-style dinner! Testimony I remember the first time I made these stuffed peppers on a busy Tuesday night. I was skeptical about how they would turn out in the Instant Pot, but the result was amazing! My family loved them, and I was thrilled to have made such a hearty meal without spending hours in the kitchen. Do not get stuck in a dinner rut! Try mixing up your weeknight meals with different recipes and techniques. One week, you could make a hearty stew, and the next, a fresh pasta dish. Or you can try my favorite, a good Shepards Pie. There are countless templates and formats to help you keep your meals exciting and new and have your family and friends wanting more! You can Do It Lastly, do not underestimate the power of knowing a bit about meal planning. Just a little preparation can go a long way in making weeknight dinners stress-free and enjoyable. Try chopping veggies and fruits ahead of time. Notably, Sunday is the day I prep for the week. If you stopped by and looked in my fridge, you would find all my melons, pineapple, and more in Ziploc bags. Thanks for reviewing my weeknight-instant-pot-meals-quick-dinners. And don’t forget about herbal teas – iced, of course! They’re not only hydrating but also packed with health benefits. Check out our Healthy Tea Segments on You Tube @Whoseteatv3368 for some tea suggestions. If you're not a fan of plain water, try this refreshing watermelon juice recipe: Watermelon Mint Juice Recipe: Ingredients: 4 cups of cubed watermelon Juice of 1 lime A handful of fresh mint leaves Ice cubes Instructions: Blend the watermelon cubes until smooth. Strain the juice to remove any pulp. Stir in the lime juice. Pour over ice and garnish with fresh mint leaves. Enjoy this cool and refreshing drink! 2. Chill Out Indoors:  During the peak heat hours, it’s best to stay indoors. Create a cool oasis at home by closing the curtains to block out the sun, using fans, and keeping the air conditioning on. This is the perfect time to binge-watch your favorite shows, catch up on some reading, or dive into a creative project. 3. Refreshing Foods:  Enjoy light and refreshing foods that help you stay cool. Think salads, fruits, and veggies. Watermelon, cucumbers, and leafy greens are especially great. You can also whip up some tasty smoothies and frozen treats. Need recipe inspiration? See, one of my favorite treats below.     Banana-Flavored Italian Ice Recipe: Ingredients: 3 ripe bananas 1 cup water 1/4 cup sugar (or a sugar substitute) 1 teaspoon lemon juice Instructions: Blend the bananas, water, sugar, and lemon juice until smooth. Pour the mixture into a shallow dish and freeze for 2-3 hours. Scrape with a fork to create a slushy texture. Serve and enjoy this icy treat! Fun Activities to Beat the Heat 🎨📚🎮 1. Virtual Hangouts:  Stay connected with friends and family through virtual hangouts. Host a virtual game night, movie marathon, or even a virtual tea party. 2. Indoor Workouts:  Don’t let the heat keep you from staying active. Try indoor workouts like yoga, Pilates, or dance. There are plenty of online classes and YouTube videos to guide you. 3. Creative Projects:  Use this time to get creative. Whether it’s painting, crafting, writing, or cooking, let your creativity flow. It’s a great way to stay engaged and productive indoors. Gardening Tips to Stay Cool 🌿☀️ Gardening is my creative project for today, and I know many of you love it too. Here are some tips to keep your outdoor garden thriving even in this scorching heat: 1. Timing is Everything: Water your plants early in the morning or late in the evening when it’s cooler. This helps reduce water evaporation and keeps your plants hydrated. 2. Mulch It Up: Use mulch around your plants to retain moisture and keep the soil cooler. It’s like a protective blanket for your garden! 3. Shade Your Plants: Use shade cloths or create temporary shades with umbrellas or old sheets to protect delicate plants from the harsh sun. 4. Dress for Success: When you’re out in the garden, make sure to wear a hat, light clothing, and sunscreen. Take breaks often to avoid heat exhaustion. 5. Stay Hydrated: Keep a bottle of water with you while gardening and take frequent sips to stay hydrated.
